Let's talk about phone addiction, deep thinking and human connection

I'm really trying to manage my phone addiction, because apart from the barrier it creates between me and the world I care about, I also hate the way it makes me think shallow, not deep.

It’s a teeny bit ironic that I recorded a video on my phone as a way of communicating with you about phone addiction, deep thinking and human connection. But I wanted to feel like I was chatting with you in your kitchen (or my kitchen, perhaps) although I am sorry I failed to record this in landscape, STUPID ME SORRY. I tried to record it straight onto Substack, which I like best, but the video record bit on here wasn’t working, for some reason, so I had to record on my phone.

Anyway, here I am on Monday morning, after I’ve just walked the kids to school, at my kitchen table in Washington DC. I’ve recorded this on video as I wanted to talk to you about deep thought, the dangers of what happens to creativity when that’s destroyed, and human connection. I’m really trying to understand my phone addiction, as I can feel the effects of it in my life all the time.
