Thanks so much for this. So glad you shared the conversation. I’m post menopause / empty nester and still feeling mad and sad. Also just been prescribed beta blockers for palpitations which are freaking me out so great to hear it’s so common! X
I'm rebelling here and just wanted to say, have you read "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt? It's on kids, smartphone use, and the rise of a risk free childhood. It is absolutely brilliant (I'm reading as I'm being lobbyed for a phone by my 9yr old).
Sorry to hijack this feed, but I can't message you, and I think you might love it. ...anyway, going to read this now!!
Just pausing again at friendships and trying alternative products. Friendships for me have been so important but also a source of sadness. Letting friendships go or change as I’m the same as you both, straight into the reality of life, a lot of people do not want to go there. So much avoidance and doing. Finding like minded friendships is difficult I find. I take venlafaxine and dont suffer hot flushes. I also use Saskias flower essences.
I’ve just paused. I’m loving this conversation so much. Perfect storm! Absolutely. And I wonder that to about breaking down what is perimenopause, what is midlife, what is empty nest etc etc etc. which feels quite impossible.
Thanks for this, information is power, but other women sharing their experiences is so so helpful - the high cortisol was my most severe symptom - rest & relaxation is super important in lowering cortisol levels and made a huge difference for me. Interesting to hear the link between undiagnosed PTSD & more tricky perimenopause.
OMG I have heart palpitations it’s driving me crazy - doctor said I really evidence that it’s menopause related 😩 Started HRT 2 months ago but it’s not changed anything yet. So useful to hear about - thank you both so much!
Loved watching this conversation between two of my favourites, over breakfast! So much to consider… I’m brimming with responses. Please do another! Xx
Amazing conversation packed with insight and practicality and genuine feeling of how valuable it is to share stuff. Wonderful

Fantastic. 🤩 yes yes yes to part 2!
I understand the sadness. I have such overwhelming grief and sadness. As Sam explained so well with rage, it does feel such a big emotion to contain.

I got so excited when I saw your faces...knowing that what would follow would be frank and wise and wry. xx
