Write with me! Join me every morning for a productive hour at midday UK time and let's work together
I'm now in west Texas, partly to occupy the kids in this long summer, but mostly because I just love it here. I'm still working. Join me every morning to write (or whatever you need to focus on!)
Last week I told you about something starting this week for paid subscribers, which I’m going to call Write with Me. This will be happening for the first time tomorrow, Monday at 11am UK time, and the rest of the week at midday UK time - these times work best for you in England, which I know is where quite a lot of you are. I am not in England, as you know, but will be joining you very very early in the morning from west Texas, where I am now and will be for some time.

The Zoom links for how to join me in my little cabin (with sketchy wifi so we’ll see how it goes!) are all at the bottom of this post.
Here in west Texas, are some of my children. Evangeline, Lester and Dash are all with me, and also Dolly, and her boyfriend Luke. There are so many things I want to do with them here, places I want to take them, people I want to see, but before I do any of that every day, I need to write words.
I need to do this because it’s my job, and I have deadlines to keep to, but I also need to do this, because without the process of expressing myself on a page or a screen, I start to feel jagged and angry and confused, empty, then full with a kind of yearning I cannot really explain. Writing satisfies that yearning in some way, even though the process of going into it and through it is very hard. I find writing very hard; I think that a lot of the measure of sucess in writing comes in the difficult process of turning up, consistently, regularly, and sitting with that discomfort.
So this one hour, every morning, which I will share with you, will I hope help keep me focused. And I really really hope you will join me, so we can commit this time to getting done whatever we need to. For me, that is writing, but for you it could be anything from finishing your accounts, a knitting project, painting, writing a presentation - whatever you need to get on with, let’s do it together.
I will put participants on mute on entry, just so we can all crack on, but I’ll probably chat for a little bit when I start, and at the end, and perhaps we can share something about how the work has gone. Absolutely no pressure to speak or share anything, however, let’s see how it goes. And I would love for you to share what you’re up to in the chat, if you felt like it. This is all a bit of an experiment, but I’m looking forward to spending this time with you. I’m planning on writing for 2-3 hours every morning before the kids really get going, so this is going to be important time for me. See you there and details to join are:
